Every morning a chubby blackbird sits on a branch just outside my studio window and accompanies my working days with his singing. Therefore Blackbird Floral is my entry for this week’s Spoonflower Design Challenge: Floral Block Prints. Block print aesthetics is inspired by printmaking that uses wooden blocks to transfer repeating designs onto textiles. I wanted to embrace this technique adding carved details, stamped textures and ink-inspired colors to my design blending nostalgia and modern charm in a simple half drop pattern that evokes the countryside, spring season and nature.
